Tips on Sponge Bathing - also known as In-Bed-Bathing

We frequently get asked for information regarding keeping someone clean that cannot get in a shower or tub. Whether being bedridden due to health related issued or post surgery recovery, cleaning without using rinse water is a simple, clean and hygienic option. There are many great products available to wash skin and shampoo hair without needing a water rinse.

Below are basic bathing instructions broken down into 8 easy steps.

In-Bed Bathing Instructions - use a fresh or clean cloth for each area and clean in the following sequence:
  1. Clean the neck and facial area
  2. Clean the front torso
  3. Clean the right arm
  4. Clean the left arm
  5. Clean the left leg
  6. Clean the right leg
  7. Clean the back torso
  8. Clean the buttocks & perineal area

    4. Simply clean, wipe and discard

    2. Leave hair and scalp feeling clean, soft and fresh
    3. Simply massage in hair and towel dry
  3. No-Rinse Body Wash
    1. Can be used with regular washcloths or with disposable dry washcloths
    2. Clean skin and dry with towel or dry cloth
    3. Designed for use on sensitive and/or fragile skin

  4. No-Rinse Perineal Cleanser
    1. No-Rinse cleaning for buttocks and perineal area
    2. Dry with towel or dry cloth
